Cant deny, cant lie, cant really face the truth.

Back from Manila & Well fed from the trip

Time to train up for my Safra Bay Run and Cableski trip in 2 weeeeks! :O

Cedele is love

Another place that serves awesome food (in my opinion) is Cedele – dining.

Their soups are in generous portions, their grills and greens are fantastic, and everyone knows how heavenly their desserts (ie cakes!) are. :)

Gordon ordered a plate of seafood risotto…

Whereas I had my favourite grills and greens!

After reading Dr Peskin’s book i’ve taken a liking to grilled/stewed beef… apparently the cows chomp on grass all day so they get much more goodness from greens then we will ever get. They even have 4 stomachs to help them properly digest all the essential stuff from the grass. So when we eat them, assuming the cows are not commercially raised and injected with growth hormones and such, we ingest all the healthy goodness of the greens along with the proteins and minerals from the beef!

Not sure how true is that.

But again, everything in moderation is the key!

Dr B. Peskin’s breakthrough

In a final and somewhat desperate attempt to try to adopt and stick to a healthy eating regime, I went out looking for scientifically proven/ nutritionist-recommended dietary advice which can be easily followed and maintained from day 1.

My efforts were futile.

Until the sister lent me a book she exclusively acquired, called “The Hidden Story of Cancer” by Dr. Brian Peskin.

I know right – it sounds totally unrelated. What has cancer got to with maintaining a healthy diet plan? Oh but you’re wrong. It was a thick book to read, but when i finally managed to scour through most of the book, it was like an enlightenment. Some of the things he proposed were just totally unheard of, like making sure I take in enough fats every day. And some of his theories were simply the opposite of mainstream recommendations and publications on food and health.

I mean, if it can help control my blood sugar level, curb hunger pangs, AND prevent cancer at the same time… Seriously, WHY shouldn’t I give it a go? :)

I have been trying to follow through his recommendation since 2 weeks ago, with my first week strictly adhering to his advice. And it was crazy difficult. Especially for a closet carbo-freak like me. I love my biscuits, rice and beehoon! (albeit in small portions each time)… I cant live without my dark chocolates and ben & jerrys!

But i was determined. So i spent quite a heap of money stocking up on different type of seeds & nuts – Almonds, Pine nuts, Walnuts, Sesame seeds, Flax seeds, Pumpkin seeds, Sunflower seeds… and essential parent omega 6 and omega 3 oils – a bottle of cold-pressed organic evening primrose oil and some flaxseed oil for drizzling on salads. Basically going on a protein and essential fats diet.

On the 2nd day, my meals consisted mainly of nuts, oils, smoked salmon and roasted chicken. It was great, cos i was actually on leave, so i could prepare my own meals. I stayed clear of sugared liquids and drank warm manuka honey with water in the morning to help with the detoxification.

Had abit of withdrawal symptoms initially, i totally felt like having breakfast with some cereal, but managed to resist the temptation.

On the 3rd day, I had a couple of wheat biscuits with peanut butter, and drizzled it with some flax seeds and pumpkin seeds. Downed it with some manuka honey water… and i felt full. So i stopped.

Lunch was a good serving of spinach and smoked salmon, drizzled with some olive oil. Magically, i did not have any hunger pangs throughout the day… I didn’t have ANY cravings for chocolate, carbo, or ice cream although i was at home the whole day with full access of the kitchen and fridge. Quite amazing.

Subsequently, I just made sure I added some nuts and oils to everything I ate.

Like my mom’s dumplings, for example. Heehee.

By the end of the first week I felt my body responding positively to the diet plan with no hunger pangs in general, and less cravings at night (wow). I was more energetic and alert (which i spent focused on cleaning up my room).

UNFORTUNATELY, on the 2nd week when i went back to work (the week that had just passed)… I resumed almost normal eating habits cos it was difficult to dabao food as per Dr Peskin’s recommendation in the CBD area. :( Nonetheless, i tried hard to follow whenever i can, like ordered more meats and took in much less carbo whenever possible. Im quite resolute to make this work.

So there! This is gonna be an on-going process. So wish me luck!

T.G.I.F!

I realised I hardly bring my camera around anymore – so lazy! Ever since I got an iphone i just used the camera function and that was it. Haha… its bad… I should at least bring it out with I meet up with friends. :\

So 2 weeks back I finally met up with Liling and Jieying after a superly long time.

I’m so glad we decided to FIX a date to make this happen! :))

We had our dinner at T.G.I.F @ Heerens. I am such a noob nowadays, cant keep up with the times already. Am i really getting that old?? I didnt know that TGIF was at the side of Heerens… I thought it was still the Balcony! Haha.

We had yummy Jack Daniels Chicken, Shrimps and Salmon.. hmm abit pricey but the experience and the company was totally worth it :) We had some girl-talking going on and then dropped by KPO for a drink after dinner.KPO a really cool place to hang out for a nice bottle of beer and a fruity glass of wine! :)

So much has happened since we last met up.. which was before the girls left DT I think! Gosh that’s realllyy long. Anyway, they’re looking as gorgeous as ever but even more radiant than when they were still doing audit. Like happier, and less shag looking. I should really leave soon. Haha.

Ying was wearing freshlook colorblends that day… Apparently she got them from M’sia at cheap cheap, and she looks soo pretty in them! They cost like $42 for a pair of monthlies in Singapore – wayyy too expensive for me. Grey and hazel are my favourites, if only I could find some way to buy loads of them at an affordable price… hmm.

In other news,  Liling justtt went for her lasik last week… Brave girl! I wanted to do it when i was younger, so I dont have to worry about the sweat and all that irritating my eyes while wearing contacts during sports.. and it seems to be more cost saving in the long run as well. But hmm. I’m quite scared cos I heard that some people’s eyes who are more sensitive will be prone to infections and prolonged pain. OUCH MAN. My eyes have always been more sensitive and more easily irritated than others… And well, my sister also contributed to the fear when she described the op process as “being able to see whats happening and when the laser cuts tru, u can smell the burning of ur cornea and your eyes will be wobbling like tofu!

HURRRRR… so scary!

Anyways, since then, Ying has so awesomely managed to get some freshlook from me through her friend in M’sia… THANKS BABE! And Liling’s eyes are recovering pretty well.. except for the dryness :)

Hope we can meet up again soon babes!

Hollandaise sauce?

Last Saturday, I had a birthday brunch with bestie shuwie at Relish! Cluny Court.

Happy birthday babe! Twas great meeting you again, finally! :)))

It was also the first time I heard about this Hollandaise Sauce.

See those stuff on her eggs benedict?

Its called Hollandaise sauce – which is an emulsion of egg yolk and butter, usually seasoned with lemon juice, salt, and a little white pepper or cayenne pepper. It is smooth and creamy and the flavor is rich and buttery, with a mild tang added by the seasonings, yet not so strong as to overpower mildly-flavored foods. [wiki]

Yumz!

A closer look at her delicious eggs benedict brunch…

The baked potato cubes on the side were like the yummiest ‘hashbrown-equivalents’ i have ever tasted! Oh gosh just looking at them again is making me hungry.

I had the beef steak sandwich below…

You could choose from a side of mesclun salad (which was what i had) and fries.

It was also fantastically scrumptious!

I am definitely gonna frequent this quaint little place called Relish from now on.

They’re most well-known for their awesome tasting burgers, and i so wanted to try their pancake stacks! Unfortunately I was already too full by then (shuwie like gave me half her eggs benedict)… and as much I could eat like a cow for brunches, for some reason I was just so nicely satisfied that I didnt wanna overdo it! We can always try it when we drop by Relish again dear! :)

Til next time then! :)

Myrica rubra

Today I will be introducing a new fruit which i have been nom-ing for the past 2 days since my parents shipped it back from China.

It is called the Myrica Rubra, or more widely known as “杨梅” (chinese) …or the “yamamomo” (japanese, literally mountain peach)… or the so-called “Bayberry” in english. Its not a very common fruit but i’m sure some of you might have tasted it before.

It is native to eastern Asia, mainly in China, where it has been grown for at least 2000 years. Chinese cultivation is concentrated south of the Yangtze River, where it is of considerable economic importance.

Its niche is forests on mountain slopes and valleys at altitudes of 100-1500 m. It is native to Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan,  Hunan, Jiangsu,Jiangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, and Zhejiang. Also naturalized in Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and the  Philippines. [wiki]

I guess its called a berry cos it doesnt have a skin per se, you just nom into the flesh directly. And that is also why the yamamomo is prone to invasion of worms who live on the trees of the yamamomo plant. My mom says before you eat them, be sure to SOAK the fruits in saltwater for some time – this will purge out any worms who are still enjoying the flesh of the fruit when you buy them home and prevent you from ingesting them!!! //cringes.

The flesh of the fruit looks like this.

Those wretched Ben & Jerrys

There was nothing else to eat at home and I was hungry.

Noooooooo.

Gone goes the tub of Ben & Jerry’s in my favourite choc fudge brownie.

YUM.

Hanging out at 313

Its become my fiance’s and my favourite haunt for the following reasons:

1) Its got a mega 4 storey Forever21 flagship store (woot!)

2) Its got a mega Uniqlo store (fiance woots!)

3) Its got the most awesome Ding Tai Fung in Sg whose quality has been 101% since we first dined there (both woots!)

4) Its got other shoppable shops with frequent sales around the year – G2ooo, Cotton on, BYSI…

5) Its a stone’s throw from AND directly linked to Somerset MRT

6) Its happening enough yet not too crowded on a Saturday night

…yep. We had a great time twirling around the mall today. Was supposed to go walk the Southern Ridges but because of various reasons, like the crazy weather which was sauna hot yet seems like it was threatening to rain… and that yizhi came to try on clothes and we totally overshot the time.. and like we had to get some presents for some friend’s birthday… so there.

A great day nonetheless. Its never so much the place u go, the things u do, or the food u eat… but always the person you’re with that makes all the difference in the world. :)

CNY Visitations

I usually heart 初一 visitations much more than 初二’s – mainly because we’re much closer to our mommy’s side relatives than our dad’s, who seem pretty superficial and unapproachable. In contrast, mom’s siblings are so much warmer, friendlier, and they dont give a damn about whether or not you’re a lawyer, a doctor, or some famous celebrity. When they come up to talk to you, you know that they genuinely want to know whats up in your life, that they truly care – and not because they like to be associated with someone with a big name on his badge. (bet you can sense the tinge of sarcasm and sourness in there huh.)

Gatherings at popo’s always give me that lovely fuzzy feeling. I actually find myself missing everyone – from my 阿姨s to my 舅舅s, to my cousins, and very soon i will have nieces too! Its reallly cute that both my cousin & my cousin’s wife (both from the same family) are now expecting, and the baby girls will be due in the next few months! Am so excited! And, im ecstatic that i will be in Singapore by then to celebrate their birth with their parents. :)

Also, my littlest uncle always whips up this awesome traditional feast (passed down from popo’s era!) for lunch together with his wifey. THANKS XIAO JIU! He is totally cool. The coolest uncle i know. I actually love popo’s cosy little abode. Its small, and squishy at times, but i LOVE the cosy feeling. Thats why I think i probably wont like to have a big house next time – even if i ever become rich.

Check out the feast!

That was the first day.

So the only thing thats probably fun today was checking out on the growth spurts of my nephews on the other side of the family, and taking photos with my siblings. OH OH. Now that was really sweet! Its almost like we were telepathic – see… my sis, my bro, and i are now staying at different places, but guess what… we turned up at our 大伯’s house wearing the same colour code!!

The Chee Siblings

Aint that cute! Haha almost looks like national day celebration to me.

It is infinitely cute and fuzzy to have such a coincidence happening – probably a once in a lifetime thing… although i hope not cos its so siblinglove to have that sort of thing happening. haha. Im not speaking english now arent I.

Daddy was probably downstairs indulging in his once in a year poker game with his brothers.

After 25 years, we finally start to look like sisters.

PICTURE OF THE DAY

My brother is soooo crazy and cute! He might have abit of a temper sometimes, but if you dont step on his tail too often, he is the funniest and cutest person to be with for real. :)))

At night, I had dinner with the boy’s family for the 3rd time this CNY. I love dining with them – Aga is such a great cook! Im always very well fed when I eat with him.. check out my bulging tummy and thunder thighs! Haha – not that im complaining. Food is love. I’ll detox AFTER CNY. Anyways, his dad & siblings are such lovely people to be with.. we also played with the brand new wii that the boy just bought :))

This CNY had been quite a blast.

Ok time to sleep now – meeting shuwei for rollerblading tomorrow morning!

Goodnight all.

Happy November 2009!

This weekend was possibly one of the best i’ve ever had :)

It could have been better if I could make it for the GFSI BBQ on saturday too; but ah… let’s just be satisfied with what one can do within the last 48 hours… :)

I spent loadsa quality time with mainly my family and the boy in celebration of all of my 24 years of life. An utterly gratifying weekend with heart to heart talks, yummilicious food, and simple but pleasurable activities. In between, I crammed in an early morning blading session with my bestie shuwie, where we managed a full hour of blades of fury following a shared portion of salmon scrambled eggs on toast & heavenly tasting earl grey tea. Pics to follow :)

What is a birthday without my favourite blue roses! The boy got me a tiny but sweet bouquet this year and he absolutely bowled me over when he revealed a very modestly wrapped birthday gift with a GEM inside. Guess what he gave me!

Happy birthday to me! :)

He brought me to olio dome for brunch after that, and the food was without a doubt, delectable. :) Being the busy bee he is, he rushed off to church for his meeting and i went home to do a little bit of unpacking and laundry in preparation of the next 2 weeks in Manila. But we met up for dinner again – and we tried out “Boss Society” or something (or Hei She Hui) at Vivo City. Not too bad i’d say!

I’d love to continue logging my wunnderful weekend – unfortunately duty calls and i have to pack my luggage already. Im flying off to Manila again tomorrow and this time, i wont be back for another 2 weeks.

But I WILL update! Thats for sure! And with pictures too!

Goodnight peeps!

Silly daddy

Today i managed to have a nice and homely lunch at home with my family, one day before i was due for London. :) -blissful sigh- Really praise the Lord for giving me this day of rest before my long haul.

Gugu cooked some simple dishes and sister came over with soup, salmon and some veggies. One of the dishes was gugu’s steamed egg with mince chicken. When didi tried to scoop out the egg, he was taken aback by its ‘toughness’, cos, as you know, steamed egg is supposed to be smooth and soft.

So then he commented, “wah how come this steam egg so hard one!”

“Aiyoh cos i mixed minced chicken inside ma..” Gugu replied.

Lynne then remarked, “Haha so funny, never see steamed egg with minced chicken before.”

At this point, Daddy replied almost instinctively, “ 鸡蛋 ma…”

0_o”

There was a momentary silence surrounding the table.
And then we all burst out laughing.

HAHA MY DADDY SO SILLY!!!

Hong Kong Day 4 & 5

Just realised that i dont have the full set of HK Disneyland photos cos my camera memory exploded just halfway through the day and gordon have to continue the snapping using his old casio camera… :(

Therefore, we shall skip day 3 and go straight to the 6th and 7th of June 2009 :)

6th June was a saturday – the day when cindy held her hong kong wedding dinner! So i just hung out at sheung shui the whole day shopping for essentials like a small hairdryer in the loveliest pink, shampoo & conditioner for damaged hair (yes that will be mine), while gordy looked around for good cameras.Then we had to hurry home to prep for the evening!

Dinner was a small but cosy affair with 5 tables at the dad’s favourite restaurant. The 12-course feast was fantabulous! It was crazy delicious although its cheaper and not held at a hotel. Didnt take any photos …cos we had to like, stand there and properly welcome the guests… I’ll get photos from charlie when i have the chance!

On Sunday we went to the church at waterloo road. The speaker they invited was an old lady who was blessed with an intriguing way of putting across her sermons. The service was in cantonese, but although i could only catch 60% of what she said, i was thankful for what i could understand. Then we went to meet Eddie for dim sum at Maxims palace, grand century plaza!

Erm excuse me…

I think you got me the wrong burger…
I think this was what I ordered.

I believe this was what I ordered.

What I ordered was  a Yakiniku burger meal, takeaway.

But instead of that you gave me…

A CHAO DA beef slice burger.

Can you bring yourself to eat this.

Can you bring yourself to eat this.

I am speechless.

~~~
This is a true story. After class and on my way back to client’s place wednesday night, i ordered a yakiniku burger meal at the MOS BURGER downstairs of chevron house. The outlet was closing was 830pm, and i arrived just in time, at 825pm. I placed my order upon confirmation from the staff (and what looks like a manager) that they could still serve me a decent takeaway. Their very last order of the day.
So i happily took the wrapped up burger (& the peach tea & fries) back to work, savoring the thought of having something other than SUBWAY or HANS to eat for dinners at the client’s. But lo and behold, when I opened the wrapper, I SAW… a disgusting black mass of meat.
I mean, whats the deal?
There seems to be no quality control at all.
Although i ordered just as you were closing shop, you still shouldn’t serve such horrible standard of burgers to your customers right? You should NEVER do that, EVER! And *sigh heavily* i cant get over the fact that i paid S$7.25 for a horribly burnt, barely edible rice burger, a bit of fries & some peach tea. Damn unappetizing. If i wasnt so hungry i would have just eaten the fries.
Anyways, i tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. So i started picking at the the burnt beef, taking the charcoal black portions out so i dont get cancer from eating MOS Yakiniku burger… But alas! I got so fed up in the end I took the entire thing apart, and guess what – I was left with 2 slabs of rice, and an eraser sized portion of unburnt beef!
RIDICULOUS.
WE SHOULD BOYCOTT
CHEVRON HOUSE
MOS BURGER.
LETS SUPPORT
QUALITY FAST FOOD.
Grahhhh. D:
Junney is so ANGRY.
AN AFTER-THOUGHT:
This came from the boyfriend : “I think its from the rubbish bin“. Hey now that you say so, it DOES look as though the burnt beef slices i had came directly from the waste, doesnt it… Somemore they were closing shop, could they have had just enough beef to stuff in my burger? OMG i think i am going to puke. *ugh*
You are what you eat.
This trip from USA really made me a convert!
You ARE really what you eat. :)
Doesnt seem to be a need for heavy brekkie light dinners/ starvation plans/ or regurgitation.  Been taking 3-5 meals a day, allowing only healthy food into my system. Also tried my best to take the cue from my tummy, eat when hungry, stop when startg to feel full.
It was pretty difficult at first… but im starting to get the hang of it :) Not only am i feeling good, my body also responded in a super fantastic way :D haha. Like tummy not as bloated, lost weight while in the states (which is like wowww.) more alert in the day, and my body clock has also been working well – feel sleepy at 11pm now! yahoo.
My sister’s wedding is coming soon & i wana look & feel great!
Sample menus of the junnebug’s daily diet (since the states)
Workdays:
Breakfast:
A quick cup of greek yoghurt with honey + brie cheese & 3 wheat crackers.
(Adopted during my stay with shuwie where she made me a convert for healthy food! weet!)
(Thats shuwie talking to her beau while i enjoy my hearty breakfast in bed. haha)
Or if no time to prep own breakfast, grab ham & egg sandwich from favourite taiwanese shop near work.
Lunch:
Basically anything but i’ll steer clear of fried stuff. Carbo is good, but not excessive.
Dinner:
(Home) Veggies aplenty to make up for the lack of, during the day. Soup is good.
(Out) Ensaladas, Sashimis, Soupy, Meaty, etc… But not too heavy.
Weekends:
Breakfast:
A medium cup of greek yoghurt with honey + brie cheese & 3 wheat crackers.
(1/2 bran oatmeal chocolate muffin, crackers and brie cheese!)
Or tortellini with portebello shrooms & cheese + freakg expensive organic basil pesto which im determined to make myself next time.
(Cherries in cup, small portebello shrooms and cheese tortellinis and organic chunky asparagus!)
Lunch:
Basically anything that seems healthy.
In-betweens:
Honey sesame cashew nuts & tea!
Dinner:
(Home) Veggies aplenty to make up for the lack of, during the day. Soup is good.
(Out) Ensaladas, Sashimis, Soupy, or occasional indulgences.
Like yesterday, when i had half a fried spring chicken and fries. stomach felt queasy for the longest time. i guess when ure used to healthy eating, somehow, u wouldnt be inclined to snack on junk no more. ur body will say NO, PLEASE! :) Not easy la. But slowly and surely i hope?
***
Found my ideal basil pesto recipe! Sounds pretty good.
    PESTO SAUCE
  • 4 cups basil leaves, well packed
  • 4 cloves garlic, lightly crushed and peeled
  • 1 cup pine nuts or walnuts (or a combination of the two)
  • 1-1/2 cups freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano or Pecorino cheese (or a combination of the 2)
  • 1-1/2 cups extra-virgin olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
Place basil leaves and garlic in food processor or blender and process until leaves are finely chopped. Add nuts and process until nuts are finely chopped. Add cheese and process until combined. With the machine running, add olive oil in a slow, steady stream. After the oil is incorporated, turn off the machine and add salt and pepper to taste. If not using immediately, store in an air-tight container with a thin coating of olive oil on top to keep the sauce from turning dark. Pesto will keep well in the refrigerator for a week or more. This recipe yields approximately 3-1/2 to 4 cups, and can be halved.
Using Pecorino cheese and increasing the quantity of garlic will yield a more intense, sharply flavored pesto. Some people prefer to toast their pine nuts. Using walnuts yields a more woodsy flavor. The amount of olive oil can be adjusted depending on the desired final consistency (thicker or thinner).
I love you more each day
It started with 999 virtual blue roses.
And… i still love to be showered with them every now and then. :)
Look how much we’ve changed for each other…
Look at how we’re blossoming in God’s blessings.
He is what helps us endure and grow stronger each day.
And closer as the years pass us by.
The occasional indulgences are always nice to have.
But all i need is you.
I dont need riches or fame or an extravagant lifestyle…
I am happy with the simple things in life.
Like you.
And you.
And oh, you. :)
Until we’re old and greying.
Prayerfully, in great health.
Til the very end.
Til eternity.
Did i bored you with the numerous news articles?
Lets continue to pray for the people in Sichuan and Myanmar… Although the golden hours of survival are over, there could still be miracles happening – when you believe. :)
Meanwhile, time for some updates on the junnebug. :))
Last last thursday, i took a day off to spend time with the boyfriend before he flies off to hk… It was nice. :) We havent had a whole day to ourselves in a long, long, longgg time.
This was all taken by my new phone! Quite good hor.
Not spectacular cos of bad lighting & the fact tt i changed it to 1MB to conserve memory.
Good enough though~
We had carls junior for lunch – humougous serving, but so-so only la. The beef chilli fries was too salty in my opinion. I still prefered our dinner, which was fish and liver porridge (mine!) and pork hands noodles (he loves weird things) at good old crystal jade. :)))
We went for a 4hour KTV session after lunch… :D
Initially for him to sing his fill, i ended singing more songs than him! HOW COME! haha…
Played with the burst function of the camera while the boy indulges in his cantopop…
SO FUN! Haha~
Also, i tried to sing songs other than that of sun yanzi’s… but somehow i didnt feel satisfied at all!! So at the end of the session, i squeezed in a couple of powerhouse yanzi songs and lo and behold… i finally felt contented. Hiak hiak.
Now that he’s back in hk again, im finding ways to kill my time.
Im bored and im missing him loads.
Ive been springcleaning my room in bits and bops this weekend – i can finally see the surface of my desk now! //shudders at the thought of how messy my desk looked 2 weeks back… The next big task will be sorting out my colossal wardrobe of clothes old and new, worn and unworn, and those i really should be giving away to people who’d wear them more often than i will.
Sigh.
Im moving house in 2 months.
Really cant bear the thought of that.
Sobs.
Day out with xianie and timmy (photo blog)
Have i blogged about this before? I think so! I just didnt post photos right? :p
This was last last saturday.
And golly. My wretched memory is failing me.
Spot the Mcgriddles
Junnebug on wheels
Gongxi gongxi!! Im so red i know!
Anyways, i liked xianie’s new haircut. Nice.
And he wobbles over.
Funky pants.
There’s something fascinating abt our useless shadows wrecking the beautiful scenary.
I love the burst function.
Junney doing the spideyman. hahahhahahahaa.
Xianie the… catwoman???
Hey at this point, tim actually looks abit goblinish.
Xianie forgot to move.
Tim is the tree…
And we were the indians…
Hahaha
Tim sings to himself while junnebug and the xianie sways around in madness…
How come timo only does vicious looking poses? U realise??? hahah.. scary…
Maybe he IS the green goblin…
junnebug is hereby sentenced to 1 week without old chang kee for making timo and xianie wait for her til they almost went to sleep!
:p
Gordon if your face is turning green at this point there is absolutely nothing gg on huh please.
-_-”
YUMMMMMMIESSS!!!
I get spasms when i look at other guys for too long.
Thank God my pink baggie comes in handy.
:)
Xianie’s new vest!
NICE!
My indulgence for the night.
Mmm…
Royce rocks. :)
How to make your kid eat all his/her food
Prepare cute lunches in adorable lunchboxes!
When im a mommy, i will try to make these for my kids!
haha :)
[one-tier bento with stuffed chicken thighs and panda and bear onigiri]
[noodle soup bento with cute alien egg]
Haha just kidding… definitely NOT this one :p
And when ur kids grow bigger…
[tight bento box with red beef curry, jasmine rice, edamame, fruit, and candy]
[mr. bento with pasta, sauce, soup, and veggies]
[bento bowl set with noodles, crab hotodogs, veggies, egg, instant soup mix]
[tare panda bento with omuraisu in one tier, wok-fried veggies and a chocolate puppy in the second tier]
[one bento tier with inarizush and shrimp stirfry, second bento tier with veggies, ice cream-shaped egg, chocolate bunny]
[bento with brown rice onigiri, salmon salad, veggies]
You SO would eat these if you’re a littling, wouldnt you? :D
When offpeak approaches…
That gives me more time to meet up with him… Oh joy! :D
On tuesday, he made a trip down to flurry CBD in his boyish pink tee to have lunch with me. We had the Market street Vietnamese Pho glass noodles and seafood roll to share – and it was really delightful! Been a longgg long time since we’ve hunted down good food all over singapore. Sigh. The opportunity costs of being a working adult and a hardworking (almost) final year student…
After the viet noodles we went to dimsum city to get our favourite peanut sesame ball to share… their hum chin peng too, though its not that nice. Waited a super long time til we managed to get a seat at banquet.. And cos it was an extended lunch, he started to fidget around in impatience while i sipped away at my ah mei teh si… *bleh* stupid chao mugger. hmpf.
Then on thursday, it was a quick one at kim gary cos we got a 30% voucher that we couldnt bear to waste… ordered a twuckload of food which only cost us $25 in the end! Super hua. :)
Nothing beats meeting up with the boy for a hearty yummy meal in the afternoon :)
In other news, facebook is being such a pain – honestly! Access to its pages are SLOW and erratic, not to mention trying to upload photos! Wanted to upload all my pics on facebook – especially those from xian’s farewell… ARGH angry. The tradeoff for increasing popularity of facebook, no doubt.
DT Girls Tea Party :)
Hee! Urps. Long overdue! This happened exactly a month ago, 23 Feb 2008.
Tea party for my dearest colleagues! :)
The theme was Estrafalario Azul  (Eccentric Blue).
NOBODY
followed the theme though.
I repeat, NOBODYYYYYY! (except me)
I was so sad! :(((
I think u see what i mean.
Being the good host i am, I served them food anyways.
DESPITE being resolute before the party to let the non-followers of the theme go hungry. I think I was too nice. Poo. Hahaha…
The atrocity!
Wendy turned up in YELLOW for Estrafalario Azul!!!
No doubt she looked gorgeous… but…
Jilly!
Lookin goood :))
And at least she TRIED.
The spread!
I love roast chicken so we had it again :))
Prepared salmon avocado cheese sandwich in foccacia bread!
Grapes and chocolate-glazed strawberries too!
Yummy!
Of cos, who can resist a hot pot of Earl Grey english tea… :))
 Ah sam with dessert!
And me!
Whos embarrassingly changed out into a more comfortable, less Estrafalario Azul little black dress… -_-” hahaha!
Radiating in paleness sans makeup.
Look at what work did to me!
Nooooo.
Our dessert! :))
Banana chocolate fudge icecream with brownies & dark chocolate wafers…
I even toasted the brownies to warm perfection and topped the icecream with chocolate sauce! Wheeee a delightful indulgence :))
Ate and chatted til nightfall again…
And sadly, wendy had to leave us first to meet collin for movie.
Chocolate girls!
Peekaboo!
Haha the fun part about this pic is that xianie looks totally oblivious to me!!!
At the end of the day…
All sweaty and rosy… and we’ve burn off all our tea foods!
Now, whens the next tea party?
:D
Voiceless
Sigh.
For the past 2 days i haven been feeling too well, my throat hurts when i talk, swallow and yesterday i could barely speak a few lines before my voice trails out. Then I finally decided to see the doctor this morning when i woke up because it was too painful for me to continue self-medicating…
I waited for an hour to see the raffles medical doctor… -blah- goodness knows how much germs i inhaled in the clinic during that time.. but though the silly doctor chased me out after like 1minute of consultation (??!), i saw the doc’s diagnosis of Laryngitis and im convinced that it is the case when i went online to check up on it..
Laryngitis is an inflammation of the mucous membrane lining the larynx (voice box), which is located in the upper part of the respiratory tract. The most common symptom of either form is hoarseness that may, within several days, progress to partial or total loss of voice. Fever, sore throat, and swallowing difficulty may occur as well.
The major symptoms of laryngitis are:
  • Hoarseness
  • Sore throat
  • Weak or absent voice
  • Sensation of a lump in the throat or constant need to clear the throat
  • Dry cough
  • Fever
Some palliative measures that can be taken include:
  • Avoid public speaking during recovery
  • Be aware that whispering puts greater strain on the vocal cords than normal speaking
  • Inhale steam from a bowl of hot water or from a warm shower
  • Drink warm, soothing liquids (but do not drink alcoholic beverages)
  • Try a cool-mist humidifier; avoid air conditioning
  • Use nonprescription pain relievers and throat lozenges to ease the discomfort
  • Avoid cigarettes until the symptoms have subsided ( I will avoid 2nd hand smoke)
Hmm i shall check up on the medications next.
Then im going to concuss for the day.
