The days leading to 4th Nov

Last weekend, we went out for the family dinner we havent had in years – also one of my happiest family dinners cum birthday celebrations! So much so that it deserves a separate post on its own. This weekend latest, i promise. Too tired to blog much now.

BUT

2) Hi Junne this is the ORQ Mailroom – can you come and collect your delivery? (????)

And then it happened!

Its a really pretty bouquet of blues with a cushy heart in the middle!

Chucked it in my pensholder so that it can stand in glory on my desk. Haha

Really nice!

Thanks dear for the surprise! :DDD

Geeks are hot

This guy…

Was this boy…

But wait… hmm…

HEY…

Does little boy Jo Kwon look like someone you and I both know???

HAHA OMG.

Cedele is love

Another place that serves awesome food (in my opinion) is Cedele – dining.

Their soups are in generous portions, their grills and greens are fantastic, and everyone knows how heavenly their desserts (ie cakes!) are. :)

Gordon ordered a plate of seafood risotto…

Whereas I had my favourite grills and greens!

After reading Dr Peskin’s book i’ve taken a liking to grilled/stewed beef… apparently the cows chomp on grass all day so they get much more goodness from greens then we will ever get. They even have 4 stomachs to help them properly digest all the essential stuff from the grass. So when we eat them, assuming the cows are not commercially raised and injected with growth hormones and such, we ingest all the healthy goodness of the greens along with the proteins and minerals from the beef!

Not sure how true is that.

But again, everything in moderation is the key!

G&J 5 years ago

Found an old pic of us like – 5 or 6 years ago, taken at the bamboo gardens of our alma mater.

Coincidentally, this was also the same location we took our first ever couple picture together in 2002.

It was when I was still tanner and darker and sportier than him.

Haha! Look how we’ve changed.

Or not?

Obvious changes in my opinion:

1) My sporty tan has disappeared (sigh)

2) Gordon looks infinitely happier :D

3) Junney has fat face now (sob)

4) We’re more comfortable with each other! Haha :)

Happy 8y4m :)

Ahh uncle ah, one fishball noodle pls.. more chilli thanks. :)

I was just checking my trackers page and.. wow.

Gordon and I have been together for 8 blessed years and 4 months.

After our wedding on 19 Nov 2011, we would have been together for 9 years and 9 months.

So surreal. :)

It was not without trials and difficulties, especially when differences have to be resolved and straightened out from time to time… to different extents. But I’m really glad that we’ve managed to get through all these years pretty comfortably.

And it wouldn’t have been possible without God’s blessings and love.

Thank you Lord, once again. For the blissful years we’ve had together thus far. I enjoy every single day we have together, like its valentine’s day every day. We look up to you and pray that you will continue to guide us so we become more like you… So that, with each passing day, we understand the meaning of love a little bit more. And love You even more.

To God be the glory. And thank you Lord, for the love. :)

What love is on 4 June 2010 – Part 2

Love is always being by her side, especially when you know she needs you, even when she says she doesnt.

At midnight, we went about our normal nightly routine of talking and praying togetherly over the phone before we went to bed. During which, i had sensations of pain in my chest, which alarmed me and was kind of freaky. I mentioned it to him, and he was quite insistent on me getting my cholesterol level checked the next morning, as i have a history of cholesterol problems.

I tossed in bed for an hour or so, not being able to sleep very well. The chest pain was apparent, and more so whenever i took in a deep breath, in and out. I was worried this might be an early symptom of something serious, so i got out of bed and googled “chest pain”, “cardiac arrest”, “heart attack”… I did have pains going through my back, near the left shoulder blade, and at that point i had abit of cold sweat, due to fear or what, i wasnt sure.

Almost everyone was sleeping, so i called my sister, who was still on gmail chat. I told her I had chest pains, and Im afraid it might be symptoms of heart attack or something. It sounded quite ridiculously exaggerating, but i’d rather take the risk to be overly cautious, than to die in my sleep choosing to ignore it. I also told my gugu, who jerked awake upon hearing it.

We took a cab down to NUH A & E 20 mins later, where i also texted the fiance, who was sick and asleep by then. Emergency consultation was exhorbitant at SGD 95, but my life is definitely more valuable than that. We waited.. then nurse took my pulse, got an ECG done, took my temperature and pressure at the triage… waited again… and the x-ray people took a shot of my chest, then back to the queue.

Suddenly the phone rang and it was the fiance, who got up to go to the loo when he discovered the msg. As my sis and gugu was with me, i told him he didnt need to come down, cos i’ll be updating him and let him know if serious. He reluctantly consented at first, but after an hr’s wait, he called to say he’ll be right there.

Finally it was my turn to see the doc, where he analysed the ECG and x-ray, declaring there was nothing wrong with my heart rate, no puncture to the lungs, no splinter in the ribs. Therefore, probably not a cardiac arrest. However, as it was still hurting, he said he needed to give me a jab and monitor for an hour if the pain subsides, then he’ll discharge  me.

The fiance caught me just as I was being lead towards the emergency ward for the jab – i quickly updated him and told him to take a nap while waiting… probably not heart attack, so dont worry. And i’ll call him if anything happens in the ward. Sister had went back first as she had work the next day, but i was glad she was there when i needed her earlier. I was relieved that the fiance could be there to keep my gugu company while waiting – else she might be anxious and even scared.

The jab was supposed to be a painkiller and muscle relaxer, but it didnt seem to work very well cos i still felt pain when i breathed deeply. The doctor diagnosed a possible pull in the muscle around my chest wall, which was why i felt pain when i breathed. 45 mins later, doc discharged me with 2 days MC and some painkillers, but advised me to follow up with the specialist next week on this seemingly atypical chest pain.

We took a cab home to rest, and I felt safe in his arms en route home.

God has His way of watching over us and protecting us through the people he place around us. They may express their love differently, like my sister – who was firm and quick and instructed me to call a cab immediately upon our decision to see the doc… my gugu – who sprang out of bed and wanted to accompany me without a question… and the fiance, who came all the way down from his place just to make sure im ok and be there for me.

I thank God that everything seems ok now – i believe it really is a muscle pull as i woke up sore and it was still hurting. And I really thank God for loving me in His own special way.

What love is on 4 June 2010 – Part 1

Love is when u do something really silly and unexpected, but you know that it will make her really happy.

Not very long ago, I purchased a pair of owlet earrings from F21 – one that cost only about SGD 6, but was really cute and went really well with my style. I rarely wear dangling earrings cos I feel they can be troublesome and heavy, but i really loved that pair for some reason i cannot really put into words.

I wore it out for the first time for mommy’s birthday celebration at lingzhi – and it did my simple black dress real justice. I thought they looked real good together – effortlessly. :)

The 2nd time I wore it was the monday after. To work. It was a mad rush to go down to client’s place cos we only had a week to wrap up that job, so i was very much in a tense and flurried mode… grabbing my laptop, reference files and my handbag, jumping onto the cab with my team mates and off we scooted to the client’s place.

After scuttling here and there the entire morning arranging meetings with the client and such, i finally caught my breath around lunch time, and lo and behold – I realised that I only had on ONE side of the earring! Oh gosh. I was in a panic – i hardly wore them and now one side is gone! It went MIA and i simply had NO idea where i could have dropped it. It could have fallen out when i was scrambling out of my office, dropped on the cab, or on the way to clients… It could have been anywhere and i didnt know when i lost it!

At first, I didnt think too much of it – afterall, i just bought it and i could just go back to F21 to get another pair.

Alas! I couldnt find it on the shelves anymore. It was gone. Poof. The vivo F21 didnt have it. The mega 313 flagship store didnt have it. And it was no longer online either. I realised i didnt hunt the Wisma outlet, but i suspect they probably ran out of it too. I was pretty devastated. So i just stashed it away in my coachy, perhaps secretly hoping that one day, the other side could just pop out from thin air and i could wear them again.

Nada. No chance.

Days went by – and with so many things happening at work and in church, it slowly faded from my memory.

Until this 4th June, the fiance told me he had something to show me. I thought, “okie, must be another one of those shirts he got at a good price at cotton on or something”. And true enough, yep, he took out this blue checkered shirt thats pretty much his style with a big grin on his face. “haha, so you.” i said. “its pretty nice.”

“Wait, i got something else to show you”

Another shirt? I thought.
Fwah, he’s been buying alot of shirts lately huh.

The fiance pulls out this gift box from thin air. “Na. Open and see”

“Huh? its not anniversary what.” I wondered aloud. Then, giving him a side glance, I questioned him, “did you do something wrong?”

“HUH NO I didnt… just open and see la.”

And so i did, slowly. It was a dodgy looking box with sqooshy stickers on it.

Guess what I saw inside.

.

.

.

The owlets!!!

And not just the earrings, but the full set inclusive of the necklace.

I was shocked for words, so i just yelped.

And i looked at him.

And he was just grinning.

And I asked him HOW DID YOU FIND IT!

He shrugged, still grinning.

And i just went omgosh you sweet thing!

And i couldnt believe my eyes for the moment.

I was, ecstatic. Not completely so over the earrings, because those were dispensable and I can live with not having them. But something else which cant be bought by money. I was overjoyed and heartened by his love.. that he knew how sad i was after the loss of my earrings and actually went to do something about it.. that he actually took the pains and the trouble to find it online, transmit the money over to the seller over TT (which was expensive).. and got it shipped over all the way from taiwan. I was sweetened by the trouble he has gone through just to turn my disappointment into happiness.

Nothing else is greater than love.

And I cant thank anyone else but God, for being the source of our love.

And for giving me such a loving fiance.

Thank you Lord, for everything. :)

What love is on 3rd May

“Love is what makes you smile when you’re tired”

After a busy day at work, I was anticipating a late night today and was sad to have to reject the boy’s invitation to go out for dinner tonight. What I did not expect, was that he replied to say that he could come down to the CBD (where its almost a dead town outside office buildings) to have dinner with me!

I was surprised by his sweet gesture but welcomed it with much appreciation. Though this was just a simple move which many couples tend to take for granted, it meant alot to me, especially after a hard day at work. And it made me smile :)

As we are both working adults now, increasingly…we  can feel that every little minute counts. The workaholic in me commands that I have to finish up my work cos i really hate backlogs… But i would love to meet up with him as much as I can. Then of cos with my job nature, there isnt much time to hang out… so every opportunity is precious in our sight.

I went home at 12.30am tonight. Not too late, but he’s already gone to bed.

8 years on, we still have our major differences which may at times result in clashes and quarrels. But it has never torn us apart before. 8 years on, it’s just amazing how much our relationship has gone through. And I can only give credit to God whose Love for us is the basis and foundation which we built our love upon.

Every relationship has its ups and downs. The ups are easy. As for the downs, you have 3 choices. Either you get out of the relationship, you stay in the loveless relationship, or you love him even more.

I choose option 3.

The day in brief

The little brickers played “Dont forget the lyrics – Grace Church Version” – i love our fellowship programs, they are a whole lot of fun! :)

The boy and I sealed the deal with Marina Mandarin today – especially love: 1) sen 2) bridal suite 3) ballroom 4) lounge/lobby area 5) themes and layouts. We paid $4k deposit today to confirm our booking and we are so not looking back! Thats one big thing striked off our wedding 2011 list :)))

My sister won the star award for best current affairs story this evening. I was tricked (:b joke!) into going for the live show, where unfortunately the tickets were valid for the upper decked seats – and shuwie & i were consumed by the shrill screams and whistling of the fans. We left soon after my sis was presented the prize to avoid going deaf. Congrats jie! Everyone said you looked stunning, stunned, and skinny. Eat more.

On an opposite note, i need to eat less, eat more healthily, eat at more regular timings, and shed the weight. The stakes are getting higher now and i want to be a pretty bride who will not burst out of her gown on her big day. :)

Thats all for now folks.

Til tomorrow!

#4: Carlton

After viewing 3 hotels, we visited Carlton at Victoria where a brand new wing would be ready in a month’s time. Bonnie was really really nice and friendly, which left us a good impression of that place. The only thing is that becos the renovation was still not 100% complete, we couldnt see the new ballroom (supposedly very high ceiling)… and becos the hotel was at 100% occupancy this week, we couldnt view the bridal suite… which was quite a bummer.

Carlton is at a really convenient location as can be seen above..  and just a 5 min walking distance from my church!

Hmm. Pray that God will give us some pointers as to which hotel we should pick.

Photography

With the little bit of time I had tonight, I took a quick search on potential wedding photographers and glanced through their portfolios.. Lightedpixels – my sister’s photographer. Kelvin’s famous for his amazing photog skills and unique view points. His candid shots are also gorgeous. Lightbox productions – his sister’s photographer. Not too bad as well. Then we checked out a few up and coming photographers too… some with styles we’re quite comfy with and yet, something special.

Maybe we should do an engagement shoot!

Window shopping – Furniture

The boy and I have been window shopping these few weeks! Mainly for ballrooms.. housey stuff.. and rabbits. Haha. No la that last one is just one-sided (me).

Its been really fun :b

We’ve got a few ballrooms in mind, which we popped by the past few weekends.. But mandarin tops our list so far in terms of the service, and the perks they were willing to offer us. Pan pacific trails behind as a close 2nd – they also offered very good stuff… plus an extra day room for the helpers! Just that their ballroom size doesnt really fit what we were looking for.. unless we limit the number of people to invite…hmm

House planning and home decor hunting is what really makes me happy on weekends!

Although we dont have a house yet, i have been dreaming of designing my own house since i was in secondary school… :b During Art Elective classes, after i’m done with my assignment for the day, i would sometimes doodle on a piece of paper my fantasy of an ideal house… Of cos, those houses come with attached swimming pools, gardens, and a nice big backyard… but i guess I dont need all those in reality to have a cosy dwelling.. Just the pertinent bits, like a loving hubby, a zen/spa feel or look, a wooden patio, mirrors to open up the space, and if possible, i would also push for a black wabbit with grey padded feet! :)))

So as i was wondering around Taka today, I saw this really nice swing that i’d like to have on my balcony patio!

Its superly comfy.

I think it’d be nice if i can come home, flop onto the swing and maybe just fall asleep on it or something.

It can even double up as a rocking cradle for my babies!

Haha joke.

:b

Sometimes I still cant believe I’m gonna get married soon..

It seems nearer than it really is :)

The Proposal

The boy did the most unexpected thing in the middle of dozens of strangers last night at Changi airport.

He received me at the airport & gave me the usual welcoming hug… Tired from the flight and eyes watery from weariness, I was ready to head for the taxi stand when suddenly, a bunch of familiar people appeared and a banner was rolled out in front of me. For a moment I wondered how come the fellowship people were here, and then, i realized what was happening.

He held my hand.

He sang.

He declared.

He knelt.

And…

He popped the million dollar question.

CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!

IT WAS SO SILLY, SO EMBARRASSING, AND SOOO SWEET AT THE SAME TIME! :)

I dont know what to say.

When it struck me that this was THE proposal, I was lost for words. I just stood there, mouth gaping, pupils dilating, heart pounding, and mind blanking out. And then he held my hand and out came the declaration – most of which i cant recall anymore cos I was just so stunned!

Tears welled up but i didnt cry. I was overwhelmed by excitement, but i didnt scream. We just stood there and laughed as he went through his plan with such a courage that I never knew he had.

Thank you guys, for helping Gordon make this work.
And thank you darling – for making this SO memorable. :)

For the records, I absolutely adore our engagement ring!

It’s exactly what I wanted, and more. :)

***

Thank God for everything – from the very first time we met, to the school days & army daze we’ve gone through together, to my salvation, to all the little fights and kinks we’ve managed to work out with His Love and grace, to our transition to a working adult..

And now, a new phase of our relationship awaits. With God as our guiding light and His love as a foundation of Our love, I cant wait to see what He has planned for us…

And I cant wait to embrace the future with you. :)

20.02.2010

Happy Anniversary dearie! :)

Southern Ridges

The boy and I had an awesome day out today. We met up for lunch at China Square Central Beppu – where the food was not bad but the service was really non-existent… Then we dropped by ACTS to stock up on Christian goodness… And got peeved for a brief second by the slow service at the basement cold storage while buying 2 Starfruits  & a bottle of juice. Haha yes STARFRUIT! How bizarre and random, but it tasted super!

Headed down to southern ridges and began near Hort Park. I was all in for some trekking cos i’ve seriously put on abit of weight in the month of Jan – have got some obvious tummy bulges and I can feel the kilos around my waist… AHHH! February shall be lose weight month. Only Im afraid it would require a colossal amount of effort to do so since CHINESE NEW YEAR is near! :(

The view was pretty nice. Took us 1.5 hours to get to Vivo and we were at a very comfy pace… taking jumpshots here and eating star fruits there… and we met a cute little boy who was running around chasing us sometimes and was sooo enthusiastic about mimicking my jumpshots.. Haha. Damn cute. At the end of the route my legs were jelly-like and wobbly… haven had that much outdoor “exercise” i guess. To think I used to be able to hike up Mount Kinabalu with such ease! Haiz. Time to get back in shape!

Kim Gary’s spicy pork chop noodles has never failed me once – Thats what i ALWAYS eat when im there. Yum yum. We had awfully chocolate ice cream for dessert and that was greeeat too! Then we were window shopping for diamonds and had alot of fun picking and probing. I tried to get something for mom for CNY but didnt see anything worthy to buy. Hmm. Guess i’ll have to do it in the Phils next weekend.

Sigh.

Why do the weekends past by so fleetingly? :’(

Happy November 2009!

This weekend was possibly one of the best i’ve ever had :)

It could have been better if I could make it for the GFSI BBQ on saturday too; but ah… let’s just be satisfied with what one can do within the last 48 hours… :)

I spent loadsa quality time with mainly my family and the boy in celebration of all of my 24 years of life. An utterly gratifying weekend with heart to heart talks, yummilicious food, and simple but pleasurable activities. In between, I crammed in an early morning blading session with my bestie shuwie, where we managed a full hour of blades of fury following a shared portion of salmon scrambled eggs on toast & heavenly tasting earl grey tea. Pics to follow :)

What is a birthday without my favourite blue roses! The boy got me a tiny but sweet bouquet this year and he absolutely bowled me over when he revealed a very modestly wrapped birthday gift with a GEM inside. Guess what he gave me!

Happy birthday to me! :)

He brought me to olio dome for brunch after that, and the food was without a doubt, delectable. :) Being the busy bee he is, he rushed off to church for his meeting and i went home to do a little bit of unpacking and laundry in preparation of the next 2 weeks in Manila. But we met up for dinner again – and we tried out “Boss Society” or something (or Hei She Hui) at Vivo City. Not too bad i’d say!

I’d love to continue logging my wunnderful weekend – unfortunately duty calls and i have to pack my luggage already. Im flying off to Manila again tomorrow and this time, i wont be back for another 2 weeks.

But I WILL update! Thats for sure! And with pictures too!

Goodnight peeps!

Happy annimonthsary darling. :)

Hello Singapore

So i’m back in Singapore just last week and BOOM my life got back into full swing with such urgency.

On the first day (11th) when i woke up, i was barely recovering from jetlag. But somehow, i got the energy and motivation to get up and go for the boyfriend’s pre-work party at his place. Not sure where the urge came from… perhaps its cos i couldnt wait to be with my fellowship again. :)

To be able to wake up in time for morning service on Sunday was another miracle, and i really thank God for it! Although i went to Allsouls Church at London while i was there, nothing beats the feeling of being in my cosy grace church. Cant explain the feeling – but it kinda feels like my 2nd home, someplace i oughta return to on Sundays.

And then Monday came swiftly and i found myself unassigned at work early in the morning. So after meeting up with my mentor managers i got him & her to sign my leave form and there you have it – IM ON TOIL for the week! Really surprised but nevertheless, praise the Lord! That will give me some time to fit into my normal lifestyle once more, unpack my luggage, rearrange my new wardrobe, get into shape.

Oh that  being said, anyone interested to come raid my clothes?
I’ve got plenty to sell/give away! haha just need to sort them out now.

The boyfriend just started work on monday and he appears to be… very overwhelmed. It also seems that i have been adding on to the stress by excitedly jio-ing him to catch up with all the movies we didnt get to watch in junethese 2 days. Ice Age 3 (quite funny), Transformers, Harry Potter! He got abit annoyed at me cos i sound like im aiming to catch like one movie a day or something. Granted, that does sound abit OVER.  Well, I’m very sorry. I thought that watching movies will kinda de-stress but forgot that everyone has different ways of coping with it…

So Harry Potter will have to wait.

SOB.
SOB SOB.

I’ve got a gazillion photos to upload over the next few days – which i will, for sure.
Just wana take some time off to do nothing… and then i’ll start doing the necessary.

Thats why i love holidays.

Hong Kong Day 4 & 5

Just realised that i dont have the full set of HK Disneyland photos cos my camera memory exploded just halfway through the day and gordon have to continue the snapping using his old casio camera… :(

Therefore, we shall skip day 3 and go straight to the 6th and 7th of June 2009 :)

6th June was a saturday – the day when cindy held her hong kong wedding dinner! So i just hung out at sheung shui the whole day shopping for essentials like a small hairdryer in the loveliest pink, shampoo & conditioner for damaged hair (yes that will be mine), while gordy looked around for good cameras. Then we had to hurry home to prep for the evening!

Dinner was a small but cosy affair with 5 tables at the dad’s favourite restaurant. The 12-course feast was fantabulous! It was crazy delicious although its cheaper and not held at a hotel. Didnt take any photos …cos we had to like, stand there and properly welcome the guests… I’ll get photos from charlie when i have the chance!

On Sunday we went to the church at waterloo road. The speaker they invited was an old lady who was blessed with an intriguing way of putting across her sermons. The service was in cantonese, but although i could only catch 60% of what she said, i was thankful for what i could understand. Then we went to meet Eddie for dim sum at Maxims palace, grand century plaza!

Hong Kong Day 1 & 2

Flew to Hong Kong with the Boy via Jetstar on the 3rd June 2009! :)

On day 1 we had a simple dinner at cafe de coral at the airport with uncle wong.

The next day began with our ‘usual’ breakfast of satay beef macaroni and bolobao! yum yum.

Day 2 : Shopping at Shatin! Raided Uniqlo for my favourite cut of jeans and bought some work shirts and a pair of denims. Afternoon tea was at Mun Kee, one of our usual dessert shops in hong kong also. haha.

We had dinner at home on day 2… I actually miss aga’s cooking too!

She cooks the awesomest (though oiliest) food! :p

Starting to feel at home at gordie’s hk abode now – afterall, i’ve been there 4 times already! :)

Spending time with the boy is always something i treasure very much…

Day 3 : Disneyland! Hopefully i’ll have time to post it up tmr :)

Train to Tibet

My boyfriend is in Tibet and im feeling bored. :(

Its easy to take the little things happening in your life for granted.

Little things that help spice up your life and inject meaning into it.

I miss his voice, his silly acts over the webcam, his smses, interesting stuff that happened during the day and anticipating stuff that was going on tmr. We had such a routine going that the repetitive nature got me just a litttttle blasé. I know now how much this routine means to me.

Grad trippin!

You're the meaning in my life.

Enjoy yourself and come back safely dearie!

We’ll be going to Hong Kong again soon! :)
