Junnebug in London

Hmm. It seems like i havent really gotten over jetlag despite holding out on the plane and concussing last night – i was sleepy at mid day in London… whilst shopping at Oxford Street! How can!

Anyways, its pretty cool in London, quite literally. I brought too little sweaters for the temperature cos i thought summer should be just fine…but thankfully i’ve prepared a few bulky ones for Edinburgh, so i should be well-covered if need be. Temperatures range from 14-24 degrees currently & i dress as though its autumn! Haha.. people must think im strange cos some can actually go out in their Tees!?

Today huiling and daryl cooked lobster for lunch… it was one gargantuan sea creature at 1.5 kilos!!!

Crazy rabbit is curious about this Monster Lobster.

Crazy rabbit is curious about this Monster Lobster.

*chomp chomp chomp yummy*

*chomp chomp chomp*

We ate it with huiling’s home-baked bread & pear+guava tea. Awesome. After that we went down to Primark & it was a madhouse. I have NEVER seen SO many people in a shop before. Beats Orchard road and Argyle Centre hands down. Hl & I couldnt even WALK properly… it was suffocating! I gave up after 5 mins… well we could always go back again, but on a weekday please. Shopped at Dorothy Perkins & H&M too. Everywhere was on sale! Whee! Had a bite at Marks & Spencers before heading home. Their sandwiches & smoothies are awesome. So many yummy choices :)

:b

:b

Anyways its really late in London now, i fell asleep at 930pm earlier on, but have to wake up to pack for my cornwall trip tmr. Yep! Going down south to cornwall! Im sooo excited! We’re doing farmstays (mooo) and i’m looking at sailing, surfing lessons, and lots of hiking. Ok time to finish up my packing and go to bed. Toodles!

When the travelbug bites

If I could.

Then I would.

I’ll go wherever I will go.

Stolen

 We watch the season
Pull up its own stakes
And catch the last weekend
Of the last week
Before the gold and the glimmer have been replaced
Another sun soaked season fades away

You have stolen my heart
You have stolen my heart

Invitation only
Grand Farewells
Crush the best one
Of the best ones
Clear liquor and cloudy eyed
Too early to say goodnight

You have stolen my heart
You have stolen my heart

And from the ball room floor
We are in celebration
One good stretch before our hibernation
Our dreams assured and we all
Will sleep well
Sleep Well

Sleep Well
Sleep Well
Sleep Well

. . .

Disneyland broke my camera

It was a scorching day today.
California continued to busk in the heat.
We continued to bake in the sun
Even SPF 55 wouldnt help.

I knew something wasnt quite right from the way the day began.

The rides were fun though, i sat the rollercoaster like 4 or 5 times.
AWESOMEST. But thats about it.

Then the play parade started down the streets of the California Adventure Park. On came the cute little characters running down dancin around, and i was actually having fun! Snapped away on my camera & videotaped snippets of the parade.

Giggling away, i was suddenly attacked by a gigantic rubber ball the size of 10 basketballs.

WHAT THE HELL???
My camera was knocked out of my hands & smashed onto the floor.
I blinked in shock – 1st at the camera, then at the idiot dancer who happily threw the ball at me.
HE WAS STILL JUMPING AROUND HOLDING THE BALL, WAITG TO AIM AT ANOTHER BYSTANDER!!
WAS THAT HIS JOB?
IF SO, HE SHOULD REALLY BE MORE CAREFUL RIGHT?!
IF NOT, WHAT THE HELL WAS HE TRYING TO DO?!?!

I picked up the camera and realised that it was gone.
It couldnt retract its lenses no more – becos its nose is now crooked.
I tried to fix it by making it straight again.
But brute force just made it worse.
Now its not crooked, but broken.
ARGH.

And on an unrelated note, but slightly related to the angry mood -
Im feeling hungry at frikin 3am. And tired.

Not a good day.

SoCal Blisters in Record Heatwave

June 19, 2008
Associate Press
LOS ANGELES — A crackling heat wave had yet to reach its expected pinnacle Friday morning despite triple-digit temperatures for much of the final week of spring in Southern California.

Temperatures that roasted the region and posed hazards for any who ventured outside on Thursday were forecast to be even higher on Friday before cooling on the weekend.

Highs in the hundreds spread from the desert — 118 at aptly named Thermal and 116 in Palm Springs — to the Los Angles area, including a record 109 at Woodland Hills, topping the 1989 mark of 105, according to the National Weather Service.

Firefighters worked in extreme heat to corral small brush fires as a strong high-pressure system cooked the air from the central coast south to Los Angeles and San Diego.

At Ice Station Valencia, a rink in the broiling Santa Clarita Valley, hockey director Larry Bruyere, 55, said: “You don’t mind working here on days like this.”

Los Angeles County opened 42 daytime cooling centers for seniors and suggested people visit air-conditioned malls and libraries in the evenings. The National Weather Service warned people to take precautions for heat that could quickly kill children or animals left in cars, even if the windows were cracked open.

As people cranked up air conditioners, energy use in Los Angeles peaked at 5,854 megawatts Thursday, breaking records for the month of June, according to the city Department of Water and Power.

Bintan with my girls

Embracing pseudo taitaihood :)

…even though we could barely afford it :’(

haha. was pretty good while it lasted though. shuwie’s uncle had a room we could stay in for no charge, but we had to pay for all the pheriperals like transport and food – which by the way, costed a bombbbbb.

Angsana was lovely though. Great place to relax with your loved ones…

Small resort, but exclusive and beautiful.

spotted a little boy sun tanning by the pool – Sooo cute!!!

So we had lunch by the beach – which was gorgeouusss!
Food was expensive but pretty nice portions and tasted satisfactory :))

While shuwie tried to read her book and eventually fell fast asleep, i camwhored with my buggies and complimentary frozen fruit sticks cos i L-O-V-E-D the colors! It was a sunny sunny day with fine white sand and clear blue waters to boot! Thank God for the weather too!

Then huiling and i tried to get something else to do, since we decided not to do watersports for the day (waters were choppy due to monsoon anyway :(( )… we helped a couple push their kayak into the sea with GREAT effort cos they didnt manage to do so after several several attempts… and we managed to help them get as far out as about 200m or so before getting washed back to shore.. haha.. poor thingsss..

Here’s our room! Nice hor.
Strategic location too! We’ve even a little garden path leading to the pool :))

Dinner was at the treetops.

By then it was dark and we seemed to have dined in a massive piece of black void. Only to see whats in front of us by the glow of a lone candle flame.

But the food was exorbitantly scrumptious!

Shuwie had some orthodox malay thingey with rice cubes and assorted veggies simmered in the sauce, huiling had something along that line as well, while i had my soba with tempura. Mmmmm twas muy delightful! Their complimentary bread was wayy yummy too.

We proceeded with SPA!!!

This was our spa getaway anyhow. And spa was reaally really enjoyable. I opted for a more extensive one of a full body massage plus foot spa. They used an assortment of oils for the massage – jasmine, lavender and such… and used scorching pariffin wax to masked my legs! Heavenly. I spent like 2 hours in there.

Not to mention their signature cucumber juice!
Omg i loved it so much.. i must attempt to recreate it myself! :))

After our massage/ body scrubs, we went back to our little abode of 2 days and before we knew it, we wandered into dreamland cos spa was just sooo relaxing…

The 2nd Day!

We woke up to a saddd sadd notice!!!

The beach was covered with oil spill that was washed up from the south china sea!!! noooo. that means no chance of ANY sea sports that day as well!! Sobbbbb.

Anyway, we woke up late la. So off we went to lunch.

From the variety of atas, expensive places, we chose the treetops again simply becos of its gorgeous view of the sea and lovely ambience. Quiet, tranquil, relaxing. And the food was of standard too, we felt :)

Couldnt believe shuwie ate the SAME THING as the night before though!!!

Huiling had beef and junney had salmon with rice.
SLURP yummy!!! :))

We also shared like appetizers and desserts.

Appetizers was the typical atas sorta dish – BIG plate with minute servings. Haha

But not bad la.

Dessert was slightly more impressive, but tiny little portions too.

Heehee.

Hungry already?

I couldnt help it!

After the amazing spa experience the previous night, i went ahead for my 2nd spa treatment – the heavenly hands. My hands look like they are 40 years old la!!! :((( They did my nails, gave my hands an exfoliation and gave them a massage… followed by my favourite pariffin wax mask. Woottt they feel good after that.

Tried their hot ginger tea… nice.. warm.. soothes the tummy… but i still like my cold cucumber juice! Sooo refreshing. :))

Oooh the spa room looks really pretty!

I wanna do up my room like that…

And then a few pics of me sans makeup hoho.

Friking horrible eyebags but looking more relaxed definitely…

The spa sanctuary area was a lovely place.. I wanna model my future house after a spa resort! :))

Shuwie and ling were chilling out by the Banyan tree pool so i hopped onto a buggie which brought me to them…

Spotted a little hungry squirrel!

Poor highly-strung fella. flitzing around like a trap was gonna close up on him anytime. But awfully awfully cute!

Chilling… chilling…

And we had to say goodbye.

The weekend was short.

But it had been one worthy of a long photo blog entry.. which i haven done in ages. I wana do another spa getaway! This time maybe in Batam.. heard from my sis that their spa treatment is superrrrr good there. But since shuwie’s already back in the states and hl needs to go to school….maybe i should jio my girls at work. heehee.

Or maybe i can do seasports at nirwana bintan!

Awww i dont wanna go to work.

:(((

The Isle of Skye (III)

Day two : The Isle of Skye :))

Lovely meal to start off the day :))

We could see the reflection of the highland mountains in the stream… :)

Highland cows are free to roam the mountain roads and.. practically anywhere.
Watch out for dung!

Climb every mountain.. cross every stream…

Jump everywhere… Til you find your dream…

Our highlander tourguide was very passionate about his hometown and the highland history.. Gordon and i had tons of fun jumping around in madness :))

Gorgeous seas, tons of sunshine, beautiful hills and castle ruins.

Trekked about 30mins towards this stretch of sandy beach with clear blue-green waters… Together with the rest of the tour people we climbed a relatively steep hill to get a bird’s eye view of the sea and the surrounding islands  :))

Had a greeeaaat time!

Love the blurblur highland cowwwsss.

Gordon has lots of GUTS. (Literally)

He took on the highland specialty…
Ooooh yummmmmy.

This is his “delicious-looking” lump of sheep innards with oat biscuits…

Um, I’ll just have some nice english tea, thank you.

Bigger pic of the beach, the vibrant colors of the sea and REAL sandy beaches.

Makes me a little sick of staying in singapore. lol.

One of my favourite pics from the Isle of Skye Trip. :))

Missing Scotland loads.

Love, Edinburgh.

Hello, Edinburgh. :)

Gordon stays at Gordon Terrace. :b

Food, not cheap.. So, we DIYed whenever we could. Tastes even better!

Edinburgh is Gorgeous.

We were very blessed to have good weather, & each other’s company…
Must have been the sunniest weekend edinburgh had seen, while i was there.
Thank you God…so very much. =)

Only had 2 days in Edinburgh, so Gordy brot me walking around whenever he could.

I wana stay there.

2nd day, visited our Missionary – Sister Chuyin, at Dundee.
Took a 1+ hr train up to her place, darling was so tired, he nodded off in a jiffy.

Were very thankful for her invitation to join her friday fellowship at Dundee.

She also cooked us dinner! As you can see, a very scrumptious spread indeed. =)

Her house was a single floored apartment that has a seaview when the trees arent blocking the way… more importantly, God has prepared for her this apartment with a large living room space – seems to be perfect for fellowship gatherings and worship! Trust that she is thankful for it as well, very cheap considering its location!

Gordon was drooling over dinner. :b

Samsui Chicken, Sweet and sour prawns, Assorted veggies and carrot soup in chickn broth!!! Chuyin cooks sooooo well =)

“Dear God, You are so powerful! Amen =)” – a little sister-in-Christ.

Ended the day with fellowship with the Dundee students and some other international brothers and sisters – believers and non-believers alike.. Twas a fantastic session, getting to know one another and all.

Then we took the last train back down to Edinburgh.
Haha look at us… exhausted loh.

Tired yes, but happy people, we were. =)

Home sweet home

Hmmmmmm.
Not that sweet actually… :((
Not without him around. :/

But then as he’d said… it was already a bonus for us! :))
He’s right. Im really happy i had the opportunity and i am grateful.

Im actually looking forward to work again.. to busy the time away so that 2 months + 2 weeks would zip away like a bullet. And then baby, we’ll be together again. :))

:)

Bliss.
